La Pietà

Gregor has long admired Michelangelo’s iconic sculpture Pietà which depicts the Virgin Mary holding Jesus’ dead body in her arms after he is crucified. Gregor was so touched by this piece that he took on a challenge, or even a vow, to create a series in homage to this great work. Five hundred years after the Pietà was created, he decided to do not one, but five hundred Pietàs with various models in the same pose of divine mourning. The thousand models, creative and anonymous players, give us a fantastically human portrait of our society.

Gregor Podgorski

Born in Poland in 1965, educated in Varsovia, Gregor began his career as a painter, in France.

In 1989 he chose to dedicate his creative energies entirely to photography. His work explores mankind’s diversity and the way it fits in the modern world.

Gregor’s work is full of passion and humour.
