Belgian artist and photographer Eric Ceccarini is delighted to announce the launch of a new Facebook page dedicated to his ongoing undertaking, the Painters Project. The exciting and ambitious endeavour sees the convergence of body, brush and lens as Eric collaborates with several artists and a handful of models with whom he has worked throughout his career to create beautiful and unique artworks.
Breaking new ground
Ever the innovator, Eric turns two artistic clichés on their head with this project. Firstly, he dispenses with the idea that a painter’s canvas must be an inanimate object by presenting living, breathing models as the medium upon which the artwork is created. Secondly, he subverts the commonly-held mantra of “the eternal solitude of the artist” by bringing together three unique perspectives – the model, the painter and the photographer – to craft remarkable pieces of original art.
In working directly with live models, many of the artists are venturing out of their comfort zone into uncharted territory, and Eric is on hand to document the results with his exquisite photography. “We go to Ibiza for around three days, to work not on a canvas, but a body; it breaks the rules because the painter usually looks at the model then paints on canvas,” explained Eric to EuroNews. “Here they touch the model with pencils, with hands or with a sponge. I’m not here to direct the work, I photograph the final piece.”
Staying tuned
As well as documenting these vibrant, invigorating experiences through his photography, Eric will also publish regular updates and videos on the Facebook page. With an indefinite number of sessions in the pipeline comprising the very best artists and models from the UK, the USA, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and beyond, the sky really is the limit for this imaginative and inventive project. To stay up-to-date with all the latest developments, including information about upcoming meetings, shoots and exhibitions, simply like the Painters Project Facebook page and share this incredible idea with your friends and colleagues.
